Coalition statement about recent violence in Boston

A shooting in Dorchester this weekend wounded five people, including two children ages 11 and 15. This is the fourth mass shooting in MA this year, and a stark reminder of how much work is still needed to change this narrative. Gun violence is absolutely preventable and no community should have to experience something like this.


We understand that one of the children shot is in grave condition. We are hoping both children - and everyone else who was harmed - recover quickly. Our children deserve to be safe in their schools, their neighborhoods, and their homes. They deserve to be safe in every zip code. Our work is to ensure that this becomes the reality across the Commonwealth
