What better way to celebrate the end of summer and the upcoming school year than at Runway in the Park!
Angelica joined Coalition Community Council member Cindy Diggs at Stop the Violence’s Runway in the Park at Allen Park in Dorchester - with games, a fashion show, vendors, and a vaccination clinic. This event was hosted by Boston resident Alfrida Woodson, who routinely puts together events to promote peace and ending violence in her community. This event featured Music by DJ Kevin Lawyer and live performances by Evolutionz Kids Boston and Imperfectly Perfected Dance Group.
A recurring theme throughout the day was the importance of investing in our youth, community businesses, and entrepreneurs. Alongside the runway were local black-owned businesses selling hats, jewelry, and clothing. The fashion show highlighted an upcoming black female designer and youth choreographer. Community partners included: a backpack giveaway provided by Mass General Hospital, Covid -19 vaccination clinic provided by Boston Medical Center, and the Coalition. Angelica is grateful to have stood alongside community members as they spread peace and joy to Boston youth.
