About the Peace MVP Awards

Artboard 2.png

The Annual Peace MVP Awards is a one-night event that celebrates extraordinary leaders who are advancing peace and preventing gun violence across Massachusetts. Now in its tenth year, Peace MVP gathers more than 100 advocates, civic leaders, philanthropists, and change-makers for the Coalition's largest fundraising event of the year. Together, we uplift community leadership and power the Coalition's lifesaving advocacy, community organizing and education work.

Previous honorees include former New England Patriots player Matthew Slater, activist and filmmaker Coach Dennis G. Wilson, Peace Boston founder Cindy Diggs, Chaplain Clementina Chéry, former MA House Speaker Robert DeLeo, and then-Attorney General Maura Healey.

Join us on April 15th at 6:30PM at Temple Israel of Boston as we honor the architects of the lifesaving 2024 gun safety law — Senate Majority Leader Cindy Creem and State Representative Michael Day, Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary. The evening will feature a silent auction, wine tasting, craft mocktails, small plates, and inspiring remarks from leaders working to build a safer future.

Senate Majority Leader Cindy Creem has served in a public capacity for more than 30 years. A steadfast champion for responsible gun ownership, Senator Creem was a principal architect of An Act Modernizing Firearm Laws. She spent nearly two years leading the legislative effort to close critical safety gaps and advance lifesaving protections. Beyond firearm safety, her leadership on sentencing reform and judicial discretion has been vital in maintaining the Commonwealth's standing as one of the safest states in the nation.

Representative Michael Day serves the 31st Middlesex District (Stoneham and Winchester). Since 2015, he has been a leading voice in the House for civil rights, mental health reform, and climate action. As the Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary since 2021, he played a critical role in advancing the 2024 omnibus bill. As a renowned “Massachusetts Super Lawyer," Day leverages his extensive legal background to shape state policy. Rep. Day is also a local small business owner and a former Special Assistant District Attorney.
