Each year, the Coalition presents its Peace MVP Award to someone in the community who has shown outstanding leadership in helping to reduce gun violence.
Presentation of 2017 Peace MVP Award to Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey
In 2017, the Peace MVP Award was presented to Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey in recognition of her courage and leadership on this issue, particularly in enforcing the MA assault weapons ban and standing up to the gun lobby. The event also featuring the groundbreaking work of Rev. Liz Walker at Roxbury Presbyterian Church’s Social Impact Center to address the trauma resulting from gun violence.
Presentation of 2016 Peace MVP Award to Chiefs Cunningham and Brooks
In 2016, the Peace MVP Award was presented to MA Chiefs of Police Terry Cunningham, Bill Brooks and Wayne Sampson, for their work in ensuring implementation of the provisions of the 2014 Gun Bill.
Presentation of 2015 Peace MVP Award to Speaker Robert DeLeo
In 2015, the first ever Peace MVP Award was presented to MA Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, in recognition of his extraordinary leadership and sustained support for passage of the 2014 Gun Bill.
