Law Enforcement Press Event
In the summer of 2014, the gun lobby was pressuring the MA Senate not to pass some of the background check provisions in the gun bill most likely to save lives (but also potentially to reduce gun sales.) In response, the MA Coalition partnered with the MA Chiefs of Police and held a press conference on the Grand Staircase of the State House, to let the Senators and the public know that passage of the provisions was in the interest of public safety. The Senators ultimately supported the provision.
