Extreme Risk Protection Order Lobby Day, Feb. 15, 2018

Massachusetts State House

The member organizations in the MA Coalition held a rally in support of the Extreme Risk Protective Order bill (EPRO) at the State House on Feb. 15th. Many legislators had simply not focused on the issue because they hadn’t heard enough noise from the public about it. Well, we changed that yesterday, when over 150 of us rallied in front of the Grand Staircase with ample media present, and then visited all 160 legislative offices. State Attorney General Maura Healy also stopped by to speak with the group.

Some survivors spoke, and one told the story of a loved one who killed himself with a gun. The family had taken his gun away, but without ERPO they didn’t know what else to do. He simply went and bought another one. With ERPO, his license would have been revoked, and he might be alive today.

This is a critically important bill. We will be doing more in the next few weeks to support its passage.

Big crowd for this event!

We are frequent visitors here!

Lots of media attention!
